[C3KOREA]Located in Buseok_myeon, Seosan-si, in the Chungcheongnam-do region, the church is commonly referred to as Boseok Church. Scripture encourages us to store our treasures (or boseok in Korean) in Heaven, as if they were precious gems, rather than amassing earthly treasures such as gold and silver, which represent the accumulation of capital. This teaching urges us not to selfishly grow our wealth solely for ourselves and our family, but to live a meaningful life that brings joy to the heavens. We should accumulate heavenly treasures through selfless sacrifice and sharing our most precious possessions. The church was renamed Haneul Boseok Church (Heavenly Gem Church) to convey this message architecturally. Through an abstract representation, the Heavenly Gem Church restores the symbolism of buildings and the significance of their locations, which were primary aspects abandoned in church architecture with the rise of modern functionalism.
